With the hard part over

A bag of concrete later, I find a way to hold the pole in position while it sets up.

 The next day, after finding out where South is, the rest was easy.

 It even has a self emptying rain gage.  It has a solar panel but also needs batteries.

 So it has been up for several weeks now.  Maybe we can go over 6 inches of rain before the month is over.  After I was all done, I remember thinking, gee, I could always look on line for the weather.  But this is more fun.
